Terms and Conditions for Junkyard

Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Junkyard ("the app"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you disagree with any part of these terms, please do not use the app.
License
Grant of License:
Junkyard grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on your Mac computer(s).
Restrictions:
You may NOT:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
- Remove or modify any copyright notices or labels
- Rent, lease, or lend the app to others
- Use the app for any illegal purpose
What Junkyard Does
Junkyard is a disk cleanup utility that:
- Scans your Mac for temporary files, caches, logs, and other removable content
- Identifies unused developer files (Xcode caches, simulators, etc.)
- Displays visual representations of reclaimable disk space
- Moves selected files to your Mac's Trash (not permanently deleted)
- Maintains a local history of cleanup operations
Your Responsibilities
Backup Your Data:
IMPORTANT: While Junkyard moves files to Trash (allowing recovery), you should:
- Maintain regular backups of important data
- Review items before cleaning, especially those marked "Review First"
- Test that your development environment works after cleaning developer files
Review Before Cleaning:
You are responsible for:
- Reviewing the selection before clicking "Clean Selected"
- Understanding what files will be removed
- Paying attention to warning indicators for potentially important files
- Ensuring you have backups of critical data
System Requirements:
The app requires:
- macOS 13.0 or later
- Full Disk Access permission (granted manually in System Settings)
- Sufficient user permissions to move files to Trash
Disclaimers and Limitations
No Warranty:
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
Limitation of Liability:
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, JUNKYARD AND ITS DEVELOPERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any loss of data or files
- Any damage to your system or software
- Any interruption of service or loss of productivity
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Any problems resulting from cleaned files, even if moved to Trash
Your Assumption of Risk:
You acknowledge that:
- Cleaning system files carries inherent risks
- You use the app at your own risk
- You are responsible for maintaining backups
- Some applications may require reinstallation or reconfiguration after cleaning their caches
Safe Practices
What's Generally Safe to Clean:
- Xcode DerivedData - rebuilds automatically
- Simulator data and old runtimes - can be redownloaded
- User cache files - applications recreate them
- System logs - temporary diagnostic data
- Trash contents - already marked for deletion
- Old downloads - files you downloaded previously
- Homebrew caches - can be redownloaded
What to Review Carefully:
- iOS/iPad backups - may contain important data
- Docker images - may need to be redownloaded
- Large installers - may need to be redownloaded
- Archive files - may contain important builds
Recovery Options:
- All files are moved to Trash, not permanently deleted
- You can recover files from Trash before emptying it
- Empty Trash manually when you're certain files are not needed
Updates and Changes
App Updates:
- We may release updates with bug fixes and improvements
- Updates are optional but recommended
- We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features
Terms Updates:
- These Terms may be updated from time to time
- Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance
- Major changes will be clearly communicated
Termination
You may stop using the app at any time by:
- Deleting the app from your Mac
- Removing associated files from
~/Library/Application Support/Junkyard/
Intellectual Property
Junkyard and all associated intellectual property rights remain the exclusive property of its developers. These Terms do not grant you any rights to trademarks, logos, or brand names.
Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable local laws, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Junkyard regarding the use of the app and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
