Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 10, 2026Last Updated: July 29, 2026Developer: 3N Softs

Summary: Filmforge collects no data

Filmforge does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. The app processes your video, audio, and captions locally on your Mac using Apple's native frameworks. Your media files never leave your device. If you choose a caption model that is not installed, Filmforge may download that model once for on-device use.

Data Collection

We collect no data. Specifically:

  • No personal information — no names, email addresses, phone numbers, or account credentials
  • No usage analytics — no tracking of which features you use, how often, or for how long
  • No crash reports — no automated crash reporting or diagnostic data collection
  • No device identifiers — no collection of hardware IDs, advertising identifiers, or fingerprinting data
  • No media uploads — Filmforge does not upload your video, audio, captions, or editing activity to 3N Softs or any third party
  • No telemetry — no pings, heartbeats, or background data transmission of any kind

Data Processing

All video, audio, and image processing occurs locally on your Mac using Apple's native frameworks (AVFoundation, VideoToolbox, CoreImage). Your files are read from disk, processed in memory, and written back to disk at a location you choose. At no point does any file content leave your device.

Optional Caption Model Downloads

Auto Captions may require an optional language or speech-recognition model. If the model you select is not already installed, Filmforge may connect to the model provider to download it. The download contains the model files; your media, captions, filenames, and editing activity are not sent with the request. Once downloaded, the model is stored locally and caption processing runs on-device.

Data Storage

Filmforge stores the following data locally on your Mac:

  • Recent files list— filenames, thumbnails, and file paths of videos you have opened, stored in a local SwiftData database within the app's sandboxed container. This data never leaves your Mac and is deleted when you clear recents or uninstall the app.
  • User preferences— your chosen default settings (export format, codec, quality), stored via UserDefaults within the app's sandboxed container.

User data is not stored in iCloud or on 3N Softs servers. Optional caption model files are stored locally for on-device processing.

Third-Party Services

Filmforge uses no advertising networks or analytics services. Optional caption models may be downloaded from their model provider, but they run locally after installation and receive no media or personal data from Filmforge.

App Store

Filmforge is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple may collect its own analytics related to downloads and usage as described in Apple's Privacy Policy. 3N Softs does not have access to any individual-level data from Apple.

Children's Privacy

Filmforge does not collect data from any user, including children under the age of 13. The app contains no account creation, no social features, and no advertising.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, the changes will be posted at this URL with an updated “Last Updated” date. Since the app collects no data, material changes are unlikely. This policy was updated for Filmforge 2.2 to disclose optional caption model downloads.
